Suki (was ChaCha) is a gorgeous sable & white sheltie who was an owner surrender. She is 2 yrs old and is an average sized sheltie who stands 16 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds. She is a true beauty with her sweet face and tipped ears. She is a healthy girl, spayed, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. She is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. Suki is housebroken and likes to bond with her human companions and follow them around the house. She is a very lovable girl with an extremely sweet disposition. She is well behaved and comes immediately when called. She walks very well on a leash and enjoys going on long walks. She also loves to go on car rides. She would probably be a good jogging companion and possibly a good candidate for agility training. Suki gets along very well with other dogs. She loves the dogs in her foster home and enjoys playing chase with them. She is used to being around younger children. She has not been around cats, so we’re not sure how she would react to them.
Suki is a smart and energetic dog who loves to play fetch with a tennis ball and loves to tug on ropes and other toys. So, she needs a home where she can get alot of love and attention and be exercised daily.
Adopted December 2010.
Mariah (now Bella) came to us along with Sierra. She is 4 years old, spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. Mariah is a small sable and white sheltie, she stands about 13 inches tall and only weighs 13 pounds (she could gain a couple). She is learning to walk on a leash but she loves attention and hugs. Mariah also gets along well with other dogs.
Adopted September 2010.
Rowdy is a handsome sable sheltie who came to us from the Brownwood animal shelter. He is a 4-year old male who stands about 16 inches tall and weighs 50 pounds. He has been neutered and brought up-to-date on all his vaccinations. Rowdy had Heartworms and successfully completed his treatment in February.
Rowdy is housebroken and has been a very good houseguest in his foster home. He is a sweet and lovable boy who wants to snuggle. He will put his head on his foster mom’s lap when he wants attention. He enjoys tummy rubs and shows his contentment by laying down and ‘talking’. He is a real “Love Bug”!! He loves people and is the most affectionate dog the foster family has ever had.
Rowdy is a happy, energetic, and playful boy who likes to romp around with the three shelties in his foster home. Rowdy walks well on a leash and enjoys rides in the car. Rowdy is easily trained and already knows the “Sit” command; he is ready and eager to learn other basic commands. Rowdy would probably do best in a home where he would have a companion dog about the same size that he could play with. He would be lonely if left alone all day and would be bored. He would also do well as an only dog with a family who is home during the day. Rowdy does well with young children, he enjoys their attention and pets. At a recent rescue picnic several children gathered around him to pet him, his tail was wagging the whole time.
This sweet and friendly dog is ready to fall in love with his new ‘furever’ family!
Adopted September 2010.
Sierra came to us from a concerned citizen along with Mariah. Sierra is 6 years old, up to date on all of her vaccinations, spayed, and heartworm negative. She stands about 15 inches tall and weighs 27 pounds. She is a sociable little girl that is hungry for attention. She walks well on a leash and gets along with other dogs. More as we get to know this sweet girl.
Sierra got to participate in a photo shoot recently, read more about it and Austin Sheltie Rescue.
Adopted August 2010.
Danny is a sheltie/pomeranian mix. Is he really that cute? Nope, he’s cuter. The 4 year old little fur ball was found as a stray with flea bites everywhere, a very matted coat and smile that melts your heart. He is 15 inches tall, neutered and brought up-to-date on all vaccinations. Last time he was weighed, Danny was 14 pounds but he probably weighs a bit more than that now with regular eating and care.
The little imp loves car rides, naps, eating, more naps, toys and following his human. He does well on a leash, is quiet as a mouse, and his tail is constantly wagging. Danny is housebroken and knows how to use the dog door. The only mess Danny makes is when he takes every toy out of the toy box and he either scatters them around the house or piles them next to his bed. He gets along fine with the resident sheltie too.
Danny is heartworm positive and will not be available until May.
Adopted August 2010.
Mickey is a handsome tri-colored sheltie who came from an animal shelter in San Antonio. He is approximately 5 yrs old and is a small sheltie who stands 13.5 inches tall and weighs 20 lbs. He is a healthy boy and has been neutered and brought up-to-date on all vaccinations. He recently had some dental work done and also had his rear dewclaws removed. He tested heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative.
Mickey is housebroken and is the perfect houseguest. He likes to follow his foster mom around the house and is always in the same room with her. He is a very sweet and sociable boy with a mellow disposition. He is well behaved and comes immediately when called. He walks well on a leash and enjoys his walks. He also enjoys car rides and is an excellent rider.
Mickey recently attended our annual picnic and was around a lot of other dogs and children and did extremely well with everyone. So, he would do well in either a home with other dogs or he would be fine as the only dog. He has not been around cats, but because he is so mellow and has not shown any signs of aggression, he would probably get along with cats.
Mickey is a lovable fellow who would make the perfect canine companion and is ready for his ‘furever’ home.
Adopted August 2010
Lady was an owner surrender to an animal shelter in a nearby town. She is about a year old, spayed, up to date on all of her vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. Lady is 16 inches tall and weighs about 19 pounds. Lady is an active puppy who loves to play, she gets along with other dogs and small children. It appears that in her former life Lady was left in the backyard with very little human interaction. When she first came to us she was quite skittish but has settled down and is learning to enjoy human attention. Her foster mom says she is successfully crate trained and is working on house breaking and learning to walk on a leash. Please keep checking for updates on this sweet little girl.
Adopted April 2010
Peaches came in to us from Round Rock Animal Control. She is a spayed sable and white sheltie who is about 7 years old. Peaches came in with skin and ear problems, hookworms and her toenails that curled back into her feet. This is all as a result of poor care in her former home. She is being treated for the yeast infections and hookworms and will have a gorgeous glorious coat when it all grows back. Peaches is up to date on all of her vaccinations, she is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. She stands about 16 inches tall and is overweight at 38 pounds. Peaches let her rescuer know that she was so grateful for being rescued and would be ever so happy to walk out to the car.
Adopted April 2010.
Harley was found as a stray in Temple and turned in to their animal shelter. Harley is about 7 or 8 years old, neutered, up to date on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. Harley is 19 inches tall and weighs 31 pounds. Harley gets along with everyone, dogs, cats, children…everyone. He is housebroken, crate trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and just loves attention. His foster mom has declared him a LOVE!

Chevy came to us just after Thanksgiving from a shelter in Temple. Chevy had been turned in to the shelter as they were moving out of town. Chevy is 7 years old, he was born in March of 2002. Chevy is either a tri-colored sheltie with a badly burned coat or a mahogany sable. He stands about 16 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds. He is now up to date on all of his vaccinations and has been neutered. He came to us with heartworms, kennel cough and hookworms. He has been treated for the hookworms and the kennel cough and will soon start the painful heartworm treatment. Chevy is very shy at first but once he gets to know you he is a love sponge that adores attention. He likes to play ball and he gets along well with other dogs. Chevy won’t be available until the latter part of March, 2010.
Adopted April 2010
Magic (was Judge) is a handsome bi-black sheltie who was left in the overnight box at the shelter in Brownwood, Texas with a note that said the family was moving. He is a 1-2 year old male who weighs 25 pounds and is about 16 inches tall. He is a healthy boy and has been neutered and brought up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative.
Magic is housebroken and does very well in the house. He loves to ‘shadow’ his human companions, so expect him to be wherever you are in the house. He has a sweet and mellow disposition and is exuberant and loving with everyone he meets!! Magic enjoys his walks and does very well on a leash. He is a fast learner and has already learned some basic commands like sit, wait, and shake hands. He is a very happy, energetic dog who loves to play either with the resident shelties or with toys. He would do very well in a home with other dogs. He would probably also do well as an only dog; but he might get bored if left alone all day.
Magic has not been ‘tested’ with children; but since he is so friendly, he would probably do well with them. He has not been around cats, so we are not sure how he would react to them. Magic loves to go on car rides and is an excellent rider. Magic is going to be an excellent companion for a lucky family out there!
Adopted February 2010
Ginger is a beautiful healthy female sable sheltie mix who is almost 4 years old. She was adopted from Austin Sheltie Rescue in 2007; however, Ginger was recently relinquished to us since the owner is having serious health issues.
Ginger has been brought up to date on all her vaccinations. She is spayed and microchipped. She is HW negative and on heartworm preventative. She stands appx 17 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds (could lose a few pounds).
Ginger is an extremely sweet and lovable dog who enjoys attention. She loves to please her humans and shower them with kisses. On recent trips to the groomer and the vet, she couldn’t give everyone there enough kisses! She has a mellow, easy-going personality and loves everyone she meets. She would make an excellent Pet Therapy dog.
Ginger is very alert to everything going on both inside and outside of the house. She loves to go on walks and enjoys being outdoors. She is a smart girl and already knows basic commands (sit, shake hands, lay down, roll over, stay, give me kisses, wait, etc.). She is housebroken and has been an excellent houseguest.
Ginger LOVES children and will do extremely well in a home with children, including very young ones. She would do very well as the only dog in the family; however, she would also do well in a home with a doggie companion to romp around with. However, she may want to be the “alpha” dog. She probably would not do well in a home with a cat since she likes to chase them!
Ginger loves to go on car rides and is a very good traveler.
Ginger is an awesome dog with all the right qualities that a family would want in a dog!
Adopted January 2010
Petey was a stray that was turned over to us by Round Rock animal Control. He was found wandering and it appeared he had been hit by a car. It doesn’t appear that he has any broken bones but is quite sore from whatever happened to him. Petey is a 1 ½ to 2 year old male sheltie, his coloring is called Color Headed White. He is 18 inches tall and weighs 34 pounds. He is currently intact but will be neutered shortly. Petey is up to date on all of his vaccinations but is heartworm positive and will have to go thru treatment. Petey should be available for adoption in January or February of 2010.
Adopted January 2010
Angie is a beautiful sable merle sheltie that came to us from another rescue group in Wimberly. Angie is 2-3 years old, is up to date on all her vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and is on HW preventative. She was very shy at first, probably due to very little positive human contact in the past. She now has been with one of our foster families for several months, and has really developed into a happy and very playful little girl. She needed to gain some weight, and is now 35 lbs. She learned to use the doggie door to go outside and loves to play, take naps with and just be with the resident Shelties. She loves chewies and stuffed toys, and will play by herself when the other two dogs get tired of playing. She walks well on a leash, and enjoys day trips in the car. She is learning to trust humans, and wants to be in the same room where you are. She is making slow progress, allowing you to come up slowly to pet her. Angie has been partial to men but is finding out that women are pretty wonderful too. Recently she went to a picnic with many other shelties and people, she had a wonderful time socializing with the dogs and with the humans. Angie had surgery on her hip in early June, and has recovered nicely. The foster family that is taking care of her now feel she would do very well in a home with other dogs.
Adopted January 2010.
