Becoming a Foster Family
Foster homes are needed for the many homeless and displaced shelties not yet ready for permanent homes. Foster families are responsible for overseeing veterinary visits (ASR will cover all medical costs), grooming, basic obedience training, and socialization to a family environment. They will also introduce prospective new owners to the dog and make recommendations for permanent placement. If you are interested in fostering a homeless sheltie, please read our foster home information and fill out an application.
Shelter visitors are needed to evaluate shelties in need of rescue from the local animal shelters. Delivering them directly to a foster home or veterinary clinic for heartworm screening would also be a great help to foster families who work late or live further out of town.
